Instructions for a Lacrosse Ding Dong Check

This page provide details on how to throw an effective lacrosse "Ding Dong" check. This is a defensive stick check used to strip the ball from an opponent.

For other stick checks (i.e. wrap check), please visit the main Lacrosse Stick Checks section.

Tips & Instructions for the Ding Dong Check

  • The first step of a Ding Dong check involves a fake Over the Head check.
  • Then instead of bringing the stick over the head and striking behind the opponent (as in the Over the Head check), you bring the stick back down in front of your opponent.
  • This technique is used when your opponent expects you to throw an Over the Head check and brings his stick back in front of him.
